Looking to reduce your traveling expenses? Try CouchSurfing

CouchSurfing is a worldwide network for making connections between travelers and the local communities they visit. Through CouchSurfing, members can find hosts who are willing to let them crash on their couch, thus saving money on accommodation and other traveling expenses. Members can also register their home and offer free accommodation to travelers.

CouchSurfing is a great way to make friends around the world and experience local customs, traditions, and celebrations. Couchsurfing offers countless opportunities to embrace daily life elsewhere, and you never know what might happen during your stay. Hosts often take travelers to visit places they would never be able to find on their own as a regular tourist.

Of course, the biggest concern comes to mind when CouchSurfing is safety. CouchSurfing website has implemented several precautionary measures for the benefit of its surfers, hosts, and community. One of it is that every user is linked to the other users he or she knows in the system through a network of references and friend links. However, CouchSurfing is still pretty much based on trust.

CouchSurfing is not about the furniture, not just about finding free accommodations around the world; it's about making connections worldwide. The experience from CouchSurfing can be inspiring and quite possibly life-changing.

For more information, visit their website at http://www.couchsurfing.com/

To Solo or Not To Solo?

Why travel solo? I came across an article by Sarah Hepola about traveling solo. This passage made me smile:

"I hate traveling alone," he told me. "There's never anyone to share the view."

It's a common compliant. People inevitably equate solo travel with loneliness. Any they're not wrong. Solo traveling can be lonely, but it can also be very rewarding. Some of the benefits include:

the flexibility to change your plans anytime

not having to consider someone else in your plans

peace, quiet, and tranquility

greater freedom to meet new people and experience local cultures

the ability to enjoy different sights and experiences at your own pace and in your own way.

In the end, it depends on what kind of person you are. Social butterflies might actually be more likely to take on solo traveling because they know they can always meet up with someone if they get lonely. Shy people might prefer a companion because they know it will be difficult for them to meet new people.

You can't really say "this type of person is a solo traveler and this one isn't." It's largely a matter of personal taste. If you've never tried a solo holiday before, why not take a short weekend trip and see how you like it?

Why We Travel Solo?

I'm sure each and every solo traveler out there have their own reason to travel alone. For me personally, I used to look at solo traveling as something dreadful. Even though I love traveling, there are times (many times in fact) when it's hard to find someone to travel with you due to different work and family commitments among friends, particularly those who are married.

But after a solo business trip to Japan, I realize solo traveling can actually be pretty fun and exciting. Plus, the benefit of traveling solo is the freedom to go where I want, when I want. Now I completely love solo traveling, and believe that any person, with enough information and guidance at hand, can travel solo and loving it.

Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against group travel. In fact, I still travel with my friends whenever I could. Traveling with friends and family have it's own benefit, but what I'm saying is that if you want to travel and there's no one to go with you, just travel solo.

Life is too short to be wasted sitting at home. Go solo and be inspired!
